This roughly four-month retrograde is a normal part of Jupiter's yearly cycle. This time, though, the whole cycle takes place in Leo, the sign of creativity, visibility and matters of the heart. Jupiter Retrograde 2026–2027 Dates

In the Americas the retrograde station falls on the evening of 12 December and the direct station on 12 April, which is why some sources list the dates one day earlier. After finishing this cycle, Jupiter moves into Virgo in the last week of July 2027.

What Does Jupiter Retrograde Mean?

Jupiter does not really move backwards. As Earth overtakes Jupiter in its orbit, the giant planet appears to travel backwards across the sky for a few months; Jupiter's opposition, when it sits exactly opposite the Sun, falls in February 2027, in the middle of the retrograde. That is why Jupiter is retrograde for about four months every year, and on its own it is not a "bad luck" period.
